Anita Biltoo Nata a Londra, comincia i propri studi musicali con il pianoforte dall'età di 8 anni. Tra gli altri strumenti, studia il clavicembalo alla Scuola di Musica e Dramma di Londra. Ottiene una laurea di musica, insieme ai suoi diplomi di Clavicembalista e di Studi Superiori di Musica Antica. Dopo aver ottenuto una borsa di studio, si perfeziona per due anni al Conservatorio "Sweelinck" di Amsterdam, e poi al Conservatorio Nazionale di Toulouse, che le assegna la medaglia d'Oro di canto, solfeggio e arte lirica. e' inoltre titolare del ACRSM e LRSM, i due più importanti diplomi della Royal Schools of Music di Londra. Dopo aver accumulato premi come finalista e aver vinto parecchi concorsi per tre anni è titolare dei cori del Teatro du Capitole di Toulouse. Svolge attività concertistica sia in Francia che all'estero. E' impegnata come solista nel Festival della Musica della Città di Londra, e ha registrato parecchi dischi: Musica del Rinascimento con il gruppo "Pro Musica" di Londra; La Messa in Sol e il Salmo XVIII di C Saint-Seans con M. Moureau e il Collegium Musicum d'Aquitaine; la Passione secondo San Giovanni di J.S. Bach con J.M. Andrieu e l'Orchestra Barocca di Montauban. Il suo repertorio è soprattutto lirico, barocco, religioso: opere, messe, oratori, come anche il vasto repertorio di melodie, accanto a stili meno classici e più leggeri come ad esempio gli Spirituals Negri e le Commedie Musicali di Gershwin, Cole Porter, Kern, Rodgers e Hammerstein, Legrand, Sondheim e Lloyd-Webber. La sua eccezionale lunga tessitura vocale le permette di cantare le parti da soprano lirico come da mezzo-soprano. |
Born in London of a french mother and a mauritian father, Anita Biltoo began her musical studies with the piano at the age of eight. Among other instruments, she took up the harpsichord, which she later studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She obtained a full music degree including singing, accompanying, choral and orchestral conducting, along with diplomas in harpsichord playing and early music. She then obtained a scholarship for two years’ advanced study at the Sweelinck Konservatorium in Amsterdam. Having taken up vocal studies in London and Holland, she pursued her training in France, gaining a gold medal in singing and stage-work from the Conservatoire National de Toulouse.
She also holds both the ACRSM and LRSM in singing from the Royal Schools of Music London. After winning several competitions, she was engaged in the City of London Music Festival, and began working as a ecitalist in France and Europe. She has recorded several discs, including Renaissance Music with the group “ London Pro Musica “, the Gmajor Mass and Psalm XVIII by C Saint-Saens with M.Moureau and the Collegium Musicum of Aquitaine; the Saint John Passion by Bach with J.M.Andrieu and The Baroque Orchestra of Montauban. Her repertoire is mainly lyrical: operas, masses, oratorios, and also the vast melody repertoire, although from time to time one can find her singing less classical styles such as negro spirituals and the great musicals of Gershwin, Porter, Kern, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Legrand, Sondheim and Lloyd-Webber. Her exceptionally long vocal tessitura enables her to sing the lyrical sopranos as well as certain light mezzos.
